Axial flux motors from WEBER-HYDRAULIK

WEBER-HYDRAULIK expands its product portfolio: Compact high-performance motors for modern drives and electrohydraulic systems

These motors stand out for their disc-shaped design, high torque density, efficiency, and flexible integration options—ideal characteristics for use in industry, robotics, modern mobility, oil and water pumps, fan and HVAC technology, and in flat actuators.

Innovative technology for maximum power density

Axial flux motors feature a significantly more compact design compared to radial-flow motors. Thanks to their disc-shaped geometry, they can be installed in a particularly space-saving manner while offering:

  • high torque density due to optimized magnetic flux guidance
  • resource-efficient design for tight installation spaces
  • flexible adaptability to different applications

By combining soft magnetic composite materials (SMC) with electrical laminations, the motors enable extremely efficient 3D magnetic field guidance. This results in high material saturation and maximum flux utilization—and thus impressive power density in a minimal space.

Development expertise from a single source

WEBER-HYDRAULIK develops and manufactures the axial flux motors in-house. This allows the motor and the customer’s application to be precisely matched—a decisive advantage for modern system solutions.

The hydraulics expert supports its customers throughout the entire development process—from the initial concept phase through simulation, application engineering, and prototyping to comprehensive quality validation, test runs, and flexible series production. Short development cycles and direct communication enable efficient projects with high-quality results.

“Axial flux motors combine a compact design, high material efficiency, and intelligent construction. This results in economically and technically compelling solutions for electric drive technology—developed in close partnership with our customers, from concept to series production,” explains Dietmar Andessner, Head of Axial Flux Motor Development.

Securing Know-How Through Acquisition

WEBER-HYDRAULIK GMBH acquired the production of axial flux motors from Miba AG to secure existing projects and continue the further development of the technology entirely in-house. The group now manufactures the motors at its Losenstein, Austria, facility, leveraging integrated expertise and a modern production infrastructure.

The focus is clearly on expanding this area of technological expertise and on delivering customized solutions with optimal cost efficiency and unique designs, precisely tailored to each specific requirement.
