Together with Liebherr, WEBER-HYDRAULIK and WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS develop battery-operated pin-pulling cylinders for the straightforward construction and dismantling of lattice boom cranes

Acting successfully together

Güglingen, 1st December 2022.                  As innovative partners, WEBER-HYDRAULIK and WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS are charting the course for tomorrow. In the new “Industry” product segment, the innovative manufacturer of rescue equipment, WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS, offers customised hydraulic solutions for industrial applications. The battery-operated pin-pulling cylinder developed together with Liebherr offers huge time and cost savings when setting up construction sites: the mobile unit replaces heavy diesel units and contributes to superior safety.

The battery-operated pin-pulling cylinder is a specially designed hydraulic cylinder with a fully integrated battery-operated hydraulic unit for pulling and pushing connecting pins during the assembly or dismantling of cranes. Its internal electro-hydraulic drive means that the cylinders are not tied to a power unit, and can therefore be used on a flexible and convenient basis. The movement of the cylinder is controlled via the remote control or with the rocker switch.

Successful collaboration between business units

The development of the pin pulling cylinder amounts to a successful collaboration between the Hydraulics and Rescue business units. Building on the extensive industry knowledge of WEBER-HYDRAULIK, WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS benefits from the longstanding experience with battery-operated systems for hydraulic applications. “When manufacturing rescue equipment, we are used to applying the maximum force to the minimum space. Our pumps are optimally designed for high pressures of this kind. In conventional industrial solutions, systems are used with significantly less pressure, and the cylinders have to be correspondingly bigger,” explains development manager Josef Eder, explaining the advantages of the system.

Individual customer solutions

In the Industry segment at WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS, offering individual customer solutions rather than standard systems is the declared goal. “Wherever hydraulic applications are used for the purposes of pulling, pushing and cutting, we are able to impress due to our considerable experience as a hydraulics specialist,” explains Reiner Stuber, who is responsible for sales in the Industry division.

“From our perspective, the battery-operated pin pulling cylinder is a positive result of the collaboration between WEBER-HYDRAULIK and WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS. This product shows how successfully we work together on projects so we can offer individual customer solutions,” explains Michael Ungar, Head of Sales Segment Cranes at WEBER-HYDRAULIK.

Further areas of application

WEBER-HYDRAULIK offers a wide range of different hydraulic components for mobile cranes. The challenge lies, among others, in the application-oriented development of sophisticated cylinder solutions. Some of these are equipped with additional functions, such as electronic displacement and force measurement, or position switches or various different valves and control elements.

In the area of WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS, the flexible, dust- and spark-free cutting systems are of interest for applications in the dismantling of buildings, the recycling of vehicles and the lifting of heavy loads such as prefabricated components, bridge formwork or roof trusses. In the field of manufacturing, the flexible battery-operated devices are used to separate aluminium castings which are cast in multiple moulds, for example.
