WEBER-HYDRAULIK opens extended Competence Center for rescue equipment

Open house and open training workshop day at the Losenstein site

Losenstein, 04 September 2023.                WEBER-HYDRAULIK GMBH invites you to an open house on the occasion of the inauguration of the new building at the Losenstein site. The extended Competence Center of the WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS brand serves as an extension of the existing production and administration areas.

Around 400 people are employed at the Losenstein site in Upper Austria. Last year, a modern new building was constructed here as an extension to the existing Competence Center for the production of rescue equipment. In addition to additional office and production space, the new building also houses a training center for fire departments. “A special highlight is the company restaurant with roof terrace, which offers a unique view of the River Enns and the Losenstein mountains,” says Managing Director Bernhard Obermayr. The expansion covers more than 6,000 square meters. The family business invested around twelve million euros in the project. Sustainability also plays an important role here.

Using the available resources sparingly has always been a basic idea in the company. “We cover our entire heating requirements with wood chips. This makes us independent of oil and gas. A large part of the electricity requirement is covered by the photovoltaic system, which will be expanded again with the new building,” explains Obermayr. Sustainability measures are often based on suggestions from employees. This is also true of a sustainable solution to the issue of mobility: a total of 68 e-cars could be leased by employees at low cost and charged free of charge at the site in Losenstein. With electricity from solar energy, of course.

Hidden champion with modern production and working conditions

You would hardly have guessed that one of the world market leaders for hydraulic rescue systems is located in the tranquil Enns Valley. Yet WEBER-HYDRAULIK has already been recognized as a Hidden Champion several times and has been nominated and awarded the Innovation Prize of the State of Upper Austria in 2022. “Thanks to the great commitment of our employees, we have always managed to develop innovative system solutions for our customers in recent years,” says Christine Grotz, managing partner at WEBER-HYDRAULIK. “As a hydraulics manufacturer today, we need to have in-depth expertise in a wide range of areas,” says Grotz.

The investments at the Losenstein site take this development into account. Topics such as sensor technology and electrification through to functional safety and cybersecurity are technologies in which WEBER-HYDRAULIK has invested and expanded its expertise. For example, through innovations such as the SMART-FORCE battery pack series in the rescue equipment market, which has essential additional functions thanks to a digital interface with a mobile application. At the same time, the company developed a new mission statement last year, in which the future direction and the most important fields of action were developed and defined together with the workforce.

Interesting supporting program for the opening ceremony

On October 21, visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience a top company in the region up close. Company tours will show how the products are manufactured. In addition, there will be an insight into the WEBER RESCUE Competence Center with modern workplaces and training rooms for emergency forces.

The Laussa and Losenstein fire departments will be holding emergency drills, where rescue equipment can be seen in action. As part of a stem cell typing campaign in cooperation with the Red Cross, you can register as a donor and get the chance to save lives. An attractive children’s program with a table magician, a bouncy castle and a play bus will round off the program. The SV Losenstein provides catering on the open day.

At the same time as the opening ceremony, the in-house apprentice workshop also opens its doors. Here, interested young people and parents can get a first impression of the apprenticeship professions at WEBER-HYDRAULIK in Losenstein, try out activities such as turning, milling or soldering at exciting hands-on stations and get personal information on site.
