WEBER-HYDRAULIK determined to combat the shortage of skilled workers

Training Day

Gueglingen, 05 July 2023.                Giving the specialists of the future an insight into the daily work at WEBER-HYDRAULIK: Under this motto, the company presented the apprenticeships and dual study programs at its site in Güglingen on Training Day. In this way, the hydraulics specialist also wants to make a contribution to combating the shortage of skilled workers.

The Training Day was organized by Training Manager Christopher Aldinger, his deputy Hagen Gerstenlauer, a team of trainees from all apprenticeship years and the HR team of WEBER-HYDRAULIK. And the efforts paid off: In bright sunshine, more than 100 visitors – mainly teenagers and young adults, but also parents and an interested public – turned up at the company’s own training center in Güglingen.

In a relaxed atmosphere, with cool drinks and snacks, potential applicants were able to find out about the total of 13 apprenticeships and dual study programs offered at WEBER-HYDRAULIK at interactive hands-on stations. The station at the 3D printer, the work at the CNC machine, filing work at the workbench and the table tennis ball game, where the handling of a rescue spreader could be practiced, attracted particular interest. The application portfolio check by employees of the HR department was also very popular.

“Our Training Day was a complete success. In many personal conversations, we gained the impression that young adults today are very willing to perform, but often feel somewhat lost in the face of countless opportunities on the job market. We are pleased that we were able to shed some light on this with our event,” says Christopher Aldinger, pleased with the response from visitors.

Another mission of the event team was to draw attention to the lesser-known apprenticeship occupations in particular and to arouse the interest of potential applicants.

“We must not complain about the shortage of skilled workers and remain inactive. Such events are very important to introduce the company to young people, but also to give them the opportunity to ask questions and try things out. On the other hand, as an employer, we get to engage in dialog with the younger generation and find out what their concerns and wishes are. In the end, both sides benefit from the exchange and if applications result from it, we have achieved our goal,” says Heike Bauseler, who was also on site in her function as Head of HR of the WEBER-HYDRAULIK Group.
