WEBER-HYDRAULIK presents new generation of steering cylinders

Everything from one source

Güglingen, 11. October 2022.                         As an innovative partner, WEBER-HYDRAULIK sets the course for tomorrow. Lightweight construction and increased efficiency through compact and smaller designs are current trends in the industry. The construction spaces are becoming smaller and the demands for sustainability greater. It is becoming increasingly important to save space as well as reduce weight in order to also reduce the unsprung masses so that the mechanical components are not unnecessarily stressed. At this year’s bauma from 24 to 30 October, WEBER-HYDRAULIK will therefore be presenting its new generation of steering cylinders as an answer for lightweight construction.

The new generation of steering cylinders with the tube-in-tube solution from WEBER-HYDRAULIK combines innovation and expertise and is characterised by its lightweight construction. They are suitable for various areas of application, such as in cranes or other construction machinery, and score points above all due to the higher integration density and the simultaneously better material utilisation. The technology and development team at WEBER-HYDRAULIK knows very well that lightweight construction is not just about using lightweight material, but also about the question of what loads a material can bear. WEBER-HYDRAULIK manages to make heavy things light with the help of load-oriented designs that are verified with FEM-supported calculations. In addition, the weight can be reduced to a minimum through high-performance components without having to compromise efficiency or durability.

A major advantage is the higher integration density. For the customer, this results in time and cost savings, for example, as they have to purchase and install fewer individual components. Although this is not directly reflected in the costs of individual parts or components, it is ultimately reflected in the total cost of the product.

From component to system provider

“As WEBER-HYDRAULIK, we offer our customers not only our many years of experience, but also innovations. For this reason, we have continuously developed from a component to a system provider. This allows us to respond to customer and market requirements with even greater flexibility, while at the same time offering holistic, innovative hydraulic solutions”, says Michael Ungar, Head of Sales Segment Cranes at WEBER-HYDRAULIK. This also reduces the installation effort for the customer, so that they do not have to resort to sourcing several individual components from different suppliers but have a ready-made system that can be easily installed.

WEBER-HYDRAULIK also takes the safety aspect into account. If required, new developments are also designed according to the corresponding standards from the area of functional safety or cybersecurity, such as ISO26262 or ISO21434. This means that not only the mechanics or hydraulics can be obtained from WEBER-HYDRAULIK, but also control units and the associated hardware and software.

Advantage through increased efficiency

The integration of safety valves such as check valves, lowering brake valves and shift valves in steering cylinders offers the customer a huge increase in efficiency as well as a safety function. In the event of a possible failure of the system, this protects the user and also the environment. “We can also help create power-on-demand systems via the integration of this safety valve technology, which are more energy-efficient and in turn make it possible to optimise other aspects”, says Markus Schiefer, Technical Product Owner & Project Engineer at WEBER-HYDRAULIK.
